Why your wardrobe kills the environment

By Trevor Park

We all know that fast fashion has had some tremendously terrible effects on our environment, as the second biggest polluting industry in the world. It is responsible for 20% of wastewater and uses lots of water for growing crops like cotton. Many plastic microfibers come from clothing like athleisure and this goes on to remain in our oceans for many years to come. Our economy is geared towards overconsumption and fast fashion might just be the best example of that with 62 million metric tons of textiles bought in 2019 alone.
