The trend that is not so stylish

By Nathan Choe

Fashion has evolved from occasional, seasonal shopping to a weekly hobby fueled by fast fashion, where cheap, trendy clothes are produced rapidly to meet consumer demand. This phenomenon, which gained momentum about 30 years ago, has negative impacts on the planet, exploiting workers and harming animals. Fast fashion relies on cheap materials, pollutes water sources, and contributes to massive textile waste. While there are signs of change, with growing awareness and calls for sustainability, the industry's transformation requires collective efforts, regulatory measures, and a shift in consumer behavior.
