To fight fast fashion and unsustainable fashion, many in the fashion industry have committed to the goal of cutting down the fashion industry’s ecological footprint. Journalist and researcher Kate Fletcher described fast fashion as being more about greed and profit. Slow fashion on the other hand, is “about designing, producing, consuming, and living better.” This article describes 7 of slow fashion’s philosophies; this included changing from quantity to quality of clothing, improving the environment of workers, and using materials that can be recycled or reused later. In the past, fashion was very slow, as people took their clothing to tailor shops and wore them for many years. However, since the introduction of brands like Shein and Zara, the industry of fast fashion has grown exponentially.
